VOCATIONAL RESOURCE EDUCATOR
The Vocational Resource Educator (VRE) works with special
students, Gibson Technical Center (GTC) instructional staff and sending school
special educators
to create a positive learning environment. This learning environment is enhanced
through modifications of the Gibson Technical Center curriculum, providing
curriculum aides or reading and/or clarifying written course material. The
special needs population of Gibson Technical Center usually comprises approximately
thirty percent (30%).
The VRE attends approximately fifty (50) to seventy (70) IEP meetings annually.
This is to facilitate a smooth transition from the sending school classroom
to the programs at Gibson Technical center.
The VRE also assesses all special needs students prior to their enrollment
at Gibson Technical center. Various instruments are used to predict the student’s
level of possible success in any given program at Gibson Technical center.
These various instruments
Include the following: Talent Assessment Program (TAP) a series of ten hands
on tests and the C.I.T.E. Learning Style Inventory, and the CAPS Interest Survey.
