Health Technology AM/PM
Health Occupations are exciting, colorful, constantly changing careers that emphasize the human side of our high tech world. Careers in health care are in the stage of fast growth and change. today there are more than 5 million workers employed in some 200 specialty jobs in the field. Health care workers provide a service that cannot be replaced by a machine. it is estimated that during the next decade the need for many workers in health care will grow by 50%. Health careers can provide a promising future, job flexibility, and limitless opportunities. Few careers can offer such a sense of personal challenge and the feeling that you actually make a difference in the lives of other people.
Health Technology is a one-year exploratory class for seniors. Students may use the knowledge gained in the class to go immediately to work as a health care assistant or to acquire admission and success in a more advanced health career program. Emphasis of the program: actual work experience in a area health care facilities, strong basic preparation for a general or specialized career in the health field, leadership skills through Vocational Industrial Clubs of America, and job seeking and job keeping skills.
The Health Technology program prepares students for entry into a health occupation
or for placement in an advanced college/technical program. Some career opportunities
might be: nursing careers, physical therapy careers, home health care careers,
nuclear medicine x-ray careers, military medical careers, housekeeping, grounds,
maintenance, and dietary careers, veterinary careers, and emergency medical
careers.
