Construction Technology AM/PM
Construction workers represent the single largest group of skilled workers in the nation's labor force. Those engaged in the building trades, repair and modernize homes, build commercial building, airports, recreation facilities, and many other types of construction. In general, construction work may be divided into three specialized categories: Structural (carpenter or brick layer), finisher (painter, floor covering installer, or roofer), and mechanical (electrician or plumber).
Some career opportunities might be: building contractors, painting contractors, real estate companies, insulation and lumber companies, roofing and concrete contractors, and self employment. Employment in the construction industry is expected to increase at an average rate through the next decade. Wages in the construction trades average from approx. $5.00- $15.00 per hour depending on training and experience of the worker.
