Auto Technology II
Auto Technology II AM/PM
Automotive Technology is designed for the student who desires to enter the automotive business as a vocation and has a strong aptitude toward mechanical skills. Good reading and math skills are essential to fully implementing the course. The instructional area includes a classroom and a fully equipped shop providing repair facility for work on most vehicles. The entire automobile is studied and all students receive both technical and practical repair experience.
Most auto technicians work for automobile dealers, automobile repair shops, and gasoline service stations. Some organizations, government agencies, and fleet owners may hire technicians to take care of the vehicles full time. Others may be employed by automobile manufacturers to make final adjustments and repairs at the end of the assembly line. Most automobile technicians will work independently in shops employing one to five skilled workers. Very large shops, however, may employ more than 100 technicians.
Some units of study in this class are: safety, shop operations, components and careers, charging system, general engine, tire & wheel alignment, ignition, lubrication & cooling, suspension, sir conditioning, and heating.
