If you like working
with cars and enjoy restoration work, Gibson Technical center's Auto
Collision Repair
program can train you for this highly skilled field. This program emphasis
on the practical applications of technical knowledge obtained in classroom
and laboratory sessions. Basic skills developed in Auto Collision include
welding, bumping, shaping of metal panels, and replacement of parts through
actual work on fenders, hoods, doors, and other major auto body parts.
Most persons
employed in this occupation work in shops that specialize in body repairs
and painting. Some large
firms, which have their own fleet of cars and trucks, will have their
own shop.
Automotive manufacturers also hire repair persons and painters for the
assembly line.
